Let we continue our tutorial to draw a Ladybird. This time, we reach the new stage. Coloring stage.

 

We must Click/select the legs. After that, you must go to the top of your page, find Window and scroll down your mouse. Find Color and click it.

The Pallete Color will appear. Choose black color. (see below).

We will continue our tutorial to draw a Ladybird.  

Now, we must complete the ladybird's drawing by combine the legs and the ladybird's body.  For information, it's very important to save you works. You can save the body and the legs on a different name/file or you can just save it in one file/name. Always save your works within 5-10 minutes.

Ok. We going back with our lessons. Ladybird have 6 legs. 

The leg must be adjusted to fits the ladybird's body. It's a very simple step. Just select the leg. Then choose the Free Transform Tool (You can refer Part 12 if you can't find the tool). The blue line box (guide) will appear (see below).

You can see 6 small white box aroud the blue line box. Press the Shift key at your keyboard and do not lift your finger. Go to the 6 small white box (choose only one box) and drag out/in. Your drawing will be enlarge/reduce in propotion.

We need to place the ladybird's body and the leg beside each other to have a better look. It's important because in this way, we can match the size correctly (see below). Always remember to use guidelines.

 

We must Click/select the leg and then find the Rotate Tool (You can refer Part 8 if you can't find the tool). Use the tool to rotate the leg just a little bit. After that, we need to copy the leg and put the new leg at the bottom guideline (see below).

Now we need to use Reflect Tool. Select/click the new leg. Go to Reflect Tool and choose that tool (You can refer Part 9 if you can't find the tool). Choose Horizontal and keep the Angle, 0. Adjust the new leg until you see the result as the drawing below.

We need another leg and to have it, just copy the first leg and paste it at the middle between 2 legs as shown below.

  

After that, we need to draw another three ladybird's legs. To make it, just select the 3 legs, copy and paste. Now, you have 6 ladybird legs (see below). 

Select 3 legs at the left sight and use Reflect Tool. Choose Vertical and keep the Angle, 90. You will see the result as the drawing below

Now, you can see the body and the ladybird's legs.

We must put the legs under the body. To make it, select all the legs and put it above the body. To put the legs under the body, select all the legs. Choose Object, scroll down and choose Arrange and then choose Send to Back.

 

And.. Taraa!

We will continue our tutorial to draw a Ladybird.  
Now, we must complete the ladybird's legs drawing.  

We will move to the next step. We will start to learn about Coloring with AI. We will put the colour on the ladybird and to do it, first we must choose the Color Tool.

Where is the tool? To find it, we need to going to the top of this AI (Adobe Illustrator) page. Find Window and scroll down and choose Color (see below).

After we choose Color, this Color pallete will appear (see below). 

How we want to use this Tool?

First, we need to adjust the colour setting. If you want to have black and white or gray colour for your drawing, you can just use this setting but if you want to make colour drawing, you can simply choose the colour setting at the upper right the tool (see picture below). Click at the red circle (guide only) and scroll down. After that, you can choose any colour mode as you want.

In this stage, I suggest we choose RGB or CMYK  mode for our basic uses.

Actually, we also can use another method to insert the colour for our drawing.

We will continue our tutorial to draw a Ladybird. Please go through tutorial no. 10 and you can find the ladybird's head and the body combined together.

Now, we need to complete the ladybird's body by put the legs that we drawn before. 

Before we combine the legs with the ladybird's body, first we must matching the size. Otherwise, it will be so weird. The leg must be smaller and off course, we need to make it 6 legs for the insect. Now we will reduce the leg but this time we will learn something new method to reduce our drawing in Adobe Illustrator. In tutorial before, we used Scale Tool to reduce and enlarge our drawing but in this tutorial, we will using Free Transform Tool to make a same things.

Where is the tool? Actually, it's just under the Scale Tool (see below).

How we want to use the tool? Just select the leg. Then choose the Free Transform Tool. The blue line box (guide) will appear (see below).
